Crosses is a photographic series created in the South Bohemian landscape as part of a long-term project exploring the spiritual dimension of the Dačice region. The photographs were produced for the publication Crosses, The Spiritual Landscape of the Dačice Region, published together with photographer Rudolf Prekop by Arbor Vitae in 2018.

I photographed the series on black-and-white film using a vintage twin-lens reflex Rolleicord camera. I do not approach the crosses solely as religious symbols, but as orientation points within the landscape and sites of memory. They carry a horizontal dimension connecting human presence with the landscape, and a vertical dimension that gestures toward transcendence and the sacred. The photographs emerged from quiet observation and respect for place, as records of presence and encounter.
